Registration is OPEN for ICQC-101 (Design Plans and Block Piecing)

Intermediate Crazy Quilt Course (ICQC)-101
Designing and Piecing Crazy Quilt Blocks
is now OPEN for Registration

You are "eligible" for this class IF you have finished the Basic Course (BCQC) OR are currently enrolled in that course (It's not easy to do both courses at the same time...but is possible; so I'm allowing that this year).

Registration will close at midnight 30 July (Saturday) , Central Standard Time

The class will begin on 31 July and should take no more than 4-6 weeks to complete.

These mini classes comprise this ICQC-101 course:

A - Printing on Fabric
B - Color Theory
C - Selecting Fabrics
D - Designing Blocks
E - Adding Lace & Trims
F - Piecing CQ Blocks

The class is FREE, you will not be charged anything for the instructions.

Link to the Basic Supply List

You WILL be required to get your own supplies to complete the different class tasks.
If you are interested in taking this course, please email me at shaw.kathy@yahoo.com and provide me this information to register:

Your first name
Your last name
You country of residence
Your state of residence IF you live in the USA
The email address (if different) you wish me to send class instructional handouts to.
The email address (if different) you wish me to use for Class Blog Access.

After you register, I will send you a Welcome Email and Google/Blogger will send you (at my request) an Invitation to join the Class Blog where the class will be held.

This is an ON-LINE internet class
You will need to follow some simple instructions to register and gain access to the private class blog. Your name and email will need to be entered; but NO social security or credit card information is required. Just basic information to "recognize" you as a class participant. We will follow the same process you used in the Basic Class.

This is the first module of the Intermediate level courses; while it does NOT involve a lot of sewing or piecing...it does involve a lot of thinking! We will cover Color Theory...and you will select various groups of colors. We will discuss the various types of designs for piecing CQ blocks...and when to use the different types of blocks. You will be practicing these designs by applying the guidelines...and then designing your own blocks on paper. You will sew at least one block as the last task...using any of the designs covered in the course. So, while there is not a huge requirement for fabrics, etc...there IS a lot of thinking that happens.

Hugs, and I hope to see you in the class!

Peacocks and Lace

I'm still working to finish beading the cabochons I have on hand. It will take me weeks to get all of them done...but, I just working a few each day as I have the time/energy.
Just loaded these Peacock Cabochons to my Etsy shop.

Have also gone through my lace motifs and packaged a "mixed baggie" of different motifs. These are great to dye and good selections (especially if you are a new CQ stitcher). Each baggie has these motifs included:

And, because I did not have quite as many of some motifs as I did others...there are two different listings. All include the above grouping...and ONE of these groupings:

Hope you are having a great stitching day!

Beautiful Purse

I did not make this...saw it on Pinterest this morning. Think it is a beautiful use of cabochons...so wanted to share.

Beading Cabochons

These past couple of weeks have been full of doctor's appointments (Mom and me); canning tomatoes and freezing peaches...and making cabochons. Remember cabochons? I made a ton of these the past couple of years (see above photo), but have not had the time so far these past few months. Glad to have been able to get back to these.

Last night I took some pictures and today...loaded them onto my Etsy shop. I hope you'll take a few minutes to go check them out if you live in the US. These are glass buttons, hand-made and hand-painted on the back; the shank is removed and the button is anchored to a thin piece of felt fabric and "encapsulated" with more beads (from Japan). These can be hand sewn directly to a crazy quilt block, purse, or whatever...by couching over the "fringe" that surrounds the cabochon. Or, a tie-tack type closure can be glued to the back if the cabochon is to be used as a brooch...or you just want to remove it easily.

Hugs!

You do need a basic understanding of how to save these photos and then retrieve those picture files. IF you use an IPad to take photos...you will need to email them to yourself, download them to your computer, and then upload to the class blog. If you use a phone or camera...follow the instructions for that specific camera to upload photos to your computer.

NOTE: You will be given class handouts/instruction in the form of emails and pdf documents.
The pdf files can be opened with Adobe Reader (free software on the Adobe.com site)

You need to be able to open these handouts/instructions and save them.

BOOKS Clearance Sale Continues

Morning all...I've decided to leave the 30% off sale on the books...and not adjust the price back up after the Independence Day Sale. I'd like to clear out all books from my Etsy page...as I'm working on new stock instead.

Books will continue to be available on Amazon.com of course...which makes my life a bit easier than having to keep up with re-stocking since shipping costs to me have ballooned.

Hugs,
