Advanced Course - Thread Painting & Knots - Open for Registration

NOTICE: If you have completed the Basic Crazy Quilt Course (BCQC-101) in the past...then, you are eligible to register for this course. It would be helpful to you to also have finished at least some of the Intermediate Courses since this is Advanced Course Work...but these are not mandatory requirements.

Thread Painting & Knots

Open for Registration 15-17 July 2021

Course Synopsis:

Thread painting is a term that was originally assigned to machine sewing...but we are borrowing it here for hand embroidery using short/long straight stitches. The course will begin with a medium sized motif that is worked in DMC (or other brand) 6-strand cotton floss. A tiny motif will then be worked in the same technique but at a much smaller scale using silk threads (or machine sewing thread if silk is not in your stash). The complexity of the work increases due to the changes in size of materials and design. There will also be motifs using knots in the course. Good lighting is a must. Great reading glasses and/or some magnification might also be a must for some of us. The finished motifs could be used as a pillow center, book cover, tote bag (or other project) focal point. The smaller motifs could be used as patches in crazy quilts.

How to Register for the Course:

Send this information to me at shawklclasses@yahoo.com

1) Your First/Last Name

2) Location (State/Country) (I don't need your snail-mail address...just state/country)

3) Your Email (This is where I'll be sending the course handouts/tasks to).

4) Your Gmail address (if different than above)...(This is where I'll send the class invitation to the blog to). If you don't have gmail...that's fine. If you do...even when I use your "normal" email...it will default to your gmail if your computer has it in your history...that's just the way Google Blogspot works.

4) Please put the course name in the Email Subject (Knots Course). This will help me to ensure your email is seen amongst all of the daily crap that is received in my inbox. Thanks!

5) For those of you having taken courses in the past...please note that the above email address for courses/classes is NEW; so add it to your contact list. Thank You.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Registration is open only on 15, 16, and 17 July (Central Standard Time). No late registrations will be accepted.

Classes are free, no fees or special purchases are necessary. These classes do require a laptop & printer so you can get the patterns/instructions downloaded and printed easily. Therefore I do recommend you register if these are not readily available to you.

FYI: I do not own an "iphone" nor print using a tablet...so can provide zero "technical support" to you if you choose to register using these instruments.

All of my courses are taught via Blogspot (each is a unique private blog for posting photos of your finished homework). So, experience in "blogging" is helpful...but I can walk you though the minimal instructions needed for the course, even if you have never "blogged" before. Just be prepared to be patient...and have a few back/forth emails until we work things out.

You will be required to post photos of your work to the blog...so you must know how to get photos from your camera (even a phone camera) to your computer...and then uploaded to the class blog. I can help you with the blog part of this sequence...but not getting your photos from your chosen camera to you laptop.

You can find additional information about all of my free courses HERE.
