Just Checking In

 Wow, it's been many months since I've posted. This summer has been extremely busy at times...and in the "down times" I've been too pooped out to think about posting. The weather here in Alabama has been HOT, HOT, HOT! Just drains my energy, which also contributes to my lack of desire to sit in front of a computer each day.

Anyhow, all is going okay here. Yes, some issues in my life...but, nothing that keeps me down for long. The worst is that a couple of weeks ago my computer (hate Windows 11) has been glitching...started with "corrupted file" notifications on a couple of key files. I uploaded some things quickly to my cloud...home budget, etc. Then a few days later, my entire external drive (E Drive) would not open...Corrupted Drive can not access.

We have had a few storms of late, and I think while uploading (or trying to upload) to my cloud account the drive experienced a power surge or a power outage. The next day...nothing. Yes, it is a big deal. Yes, it is upsetting. Yes, I have discussed with the local computer geek store. Nope...not a solution that is affordable for me. So, now trying to see what IS available on my cloud and google drive accounts. Have decided that "this too shall pass" and refuse to let it bother me any further.

Finished a few quilt tops lately.

Got this one pieced "one month at a time". Kit was from Red Rooster Laser Arts kit. Probably my most expensive BOM to date. It finished at about 108" square...which is king size however. Now, to get it quilted. While I did enjoy the process, the fabric, the pattern...it was way too expensive (over $500 by the time all twelve months had arrived). The quilting will cost be around $350 just going edge to edge. So, much more money in this quilt than I am accustomed to. Normally, I get by with about $200 - 350 in fabric costs before quilting. The pattern of this reminds me a little of the style Cotton Cuts uses for their quilts.

This is the second quilt that was pieced at my last retreat. (Southern Treasures in Newton, Alabama...HIGHLY recommend their location. Small (six beds total)...but so friendly, so clean, no steps, and great folks!). I did add a 4" sage green border to this when I got home. Another one to get quilted now.

All packed for my next retreat...which begins in two days. It is the Fall Retreat for my quilt guild, at our local church fellowship hall. The last retreat for this year. Then I will hibernate for the winter!!
