I Have Skills!

And, this photo proves it! Let me tell you...it's not easy holding an object in your left hand...and gripping it so it will "open"...while holding the camera with your right hand...and pushing the shutter button...AND getting a photo that is in focus! I am so proud!

We have been challenged to complete a little thimble holder...as our most recent Fun Friday Toot over on StitchMAP...and this is mine. It was fast, only a couple of hours...and the next one will be more elaborate. But, this one was fun. Here is my little design for the front.

The sides are made from plastic (milk jug for me). I covered the plastic shape with fabric, using a glue stitch to help out...and the inside was just felt cut to the same shape.

I stitched each "side" separately...

 then used the English Paper Piecing technique to put the three sides together...leaving an opening area of course. I added some cording to the sides to cover the seams...and make a little tassle. Then a few clay roses to the bottom and a few beads to the top and it's finished!

All ready to hand on my chatelaine (if it ever gets stitched)...and hold my favorite thimble. It actually could hold two or three...

First Thursday Thiimble - October

Well, today's thimble is a little scary...and, I am now sure that I have "spiders on the brain"! But, here ya go!!

I thought about Halloween and then, I didn't want to do that...since some folks don't participate in that October Festivities...so, that lead me to deciding on a simple little Black Widow Spider. Seriously...isn't she really cute! Okay, perhaps not-so-much. Hey, stitch her in Pink...and change her name to Pink Lady!
Okay, enough...I seriously need coffee this morning! I'm starting to just chatter on!

First Thursday Thimble - Late

We did not get to vacation at the beach this year, as we did last year...and the fun was really missed. Hope your family was able to catch a few waves...but if not, here's a little thimble for you. Perhaps it will remind you of days past with sun, sand, and lot's of beautiful water! I've include a png and a jpeg format photo for your use.

First Thursday Thimbles -- May_2011

The first Thursday of each month, I'll be posting a new thimble for you to stitch. The photo can be resized to fit your given project idea. Most will probably be embroidery work; but there could be a cross-stitch or other style mixed in as we progress. The designs will just depend on what my Creative Muse directs!The first is in honor of May here is a little Queen Bee thimble!And, you don't have to worry about being stung! 

Wouldn't this little thimble look lovely on a name-tag! Or as the center of a little pin cushion?
