WHAT!

If you had been anywhere near my house today...you would have heard this word for sure.
The conversation between my visiting granddaughter and me like this:

AIDAN: "Oh Nana, I forgot...I have to do an animal cell or a plant cell?"
CONFUSED NANA: What?
AIDAN: "You know, it's kinda round with little parts inside. And it needs to be in 3-D."
CONFUSED NANA: What?
AIDAN: "Nana, you're not listening. I need to do a cell for Science and it's due tomorrow, and I forgot about it.
LESS CONFUSED NANA: WHAT!
AIDAN: "The teacher said we could make it out of cake if we needed too."
CONFUSED AGAIN NANA: WHAT?

Why is that when children have a science project...they "remember" it only hours before bedtime the night before it is due in school?

So, I made a rush trip to the local dime store to get nerf balls...no way was I going to try this with cake!

Here is the result before we glued it and the names of the descriptive parts on foam core board!
You might recognize...coral beads (painted blue), gold bugle beads, white covered button (painted orange), and two pinto beans painted blue with darker blue squigglies on them.
Much paint was used...five different paint brushes...two paint trays...and Aidan was very happy. It was a good time when it was done! One I hope NOT to repeat however. Hugs!

Oh WOW Kath!!! This is amazing! I bet your grand-daughter was impressed with her Nana :)

That turned out great Kathy even though it was done right before bedtime! We've had similar problems with book reports that required visual aids.

Hello Kathy! You did a great job with the 'cell'!! I don't think I would have attempted this in cake either!! :) x

I have spent many a late night "helping" with a project that was due the next day. I always would ask what grade "we" made!!

Don't you just love when the adults have to work out the homework!!!! I swear kids have been doing this since the beginning of time. Didn't think you would be using CQ embellishments for this did you. I give the project an "A"!!!

Nana to the rescue! We have had a few of those huge project announcements at 6 p.m (bedtime was 9) on a Sunday night when the project was due on Monday. Nothing quite so fun, however. Fabulous job!

Compartir la creatividad de ese trabajo con tu nieta es muy bonito y quedó espléndido.
